Portrait of Michaelangelo

"Good painting is the kind that looks like sculpture."

Why would Michaelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel ceiling  with naked people? This is where the Pope worships!

This was painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. It is  one of the most renowned artworks of the High Renaissance. There  are nine scenes from the Book of Genesis.  According to the book of Genesis, God  created man in his own image. The nakedness  of man is a symbol of God's perfect creation  where man was innocent as a new born child. Michelangelo’s ability to make the human body so perfect in form was proof of his giftedness. His choice to leave his characters' undressed was his way of honoring God's image.
